The Opportunity
Are you interested in acquiring our collection of Qing dynasty porcelain from the famous Tek Sing shipwreck?
Purchased directly from the Indonesian Government, our collection consists of tens of thousands of blue upon white porcelain salvaged from the Tek Sing after almost 180 years on the sea bed. The pieces are in excellent condition, some having coral encrustations and others having unique markings from the precious cargo of tea that was also onboard.
The Collection Details
There are several dozen different product shapes and designs, each in marketable quantities presenting a unique selling opportunity. The rarity and historical significance of these pieces make them highly sought after by collectors, and the market for them has seen steady growth in recent years.
In addition, the limited supply of these artifacts due to the tragic nature of their recovery makes them all the more valuable. This collection represents a complete acquisition opportunity rather than individual piece sales.
Dehua Blue and White Porcelain
Dehua blue upon white porcelain is a distinctive form of ceramic art that boasts intricate blue-painted designs on a lustrous white porcelain body. This exquisite porcelain was produced in Dehua, a region located in the Fujian province of China, during the Qing dynasty (1644-1912).
The blue designs were skillfully applied using cobalt oxide, which would react with the glaze during the firing process, resulting in a vivid and striking blue hue. Dehua blue upon white porcelain was used to create a diverse range of objects, from vases and dishes to figurines and sculptures.
These objects often featured traditional Chinese motifs, including floral and landscape designs, which were renowned for their ornate and meticulous craftsmanship. To this day, the Dehua region continues to produce exceptional porcelain that is revered for its delicate and refined beauty.
